A short film made for EuroparlTV on aquaculture, in the light of the 2009 Commission strategy on the development of the sector, and the report by MEP Guido Milana of the Committee on Fisheries.
Taking place in Porto on October 4, just before Aquaculture Europe 2010, a special BIOENCAPSULATION THEMATIC WORKSHOP  will adddress how encapsulation may help in the further development of aquaculture. The worksop will also look to enhance relationships between all contributors, to favour colaborative projects and networks start up, and to promote aquaculture development through microencapsulation techniques. Logo_LARVANET_FinalThe Aquaculture Europe 2010 programme is taking shape and we are pleased to announce a special session that will combine presentations of the review papers of the COST Action LARVANET with the AE2010 Finfish Hatchery Production parallel session. This will take place on October 6th on the first conference day and Karin Pittman of LARVANET will join the AE2010 session chair Elin Kjorsvik to co-chair the session.
The FAO Aquaculture Service calls for contributions to the development of a worldwide overview and databank of Codes of Practice, Codes of Conduct, Best (Better) Management Practices, Technical Guidelines, etc. in aquaculture. These documents could be sent to FAO in hard copy format or electronic format, or, if available online, by informing FAO of the relevant website, internet link or URL. Three studies carried out for the Committee on Fisheries of the European Parliament are now available online (search under Fisheries). The studies - Evaluation of the Impact of « A strategy for the Sustainable Development of European Aquaculture » COM (2002) 511 Final (Coordinated by the EAS and available in ES,DE,EN,FR,IT); Regulatory and Legal Constraints for European Aquaculture (available in ES,DE,EN,FR,IT) and European Aquaculture Competitiveness : Limitations and Possible Strategies (available in EN) - were done to assist the Committee in formulating its opinion on the Commission 2009 Strategy for the development of European aquaculture.
